Network Marketers Worst Business Building Habit! How to Replace It?

One of the worst habits multi-level marketers have is that they prospect anyone and everyone. However, that’s not their fault, that’s what all Network Marketing entrepreneurs have been taught to do for decades.

For years in the MLM Industry and in Network Marketing companies’ training events the “experts” have been teaching that “Everyone is your prospect” or “Everyone wants this, they just don’t know it yet” and that’s what they call the “3 foot rule” which goes hand in hand with the great mental affirmation – “If in doubt blurt it out.”stocker.jpg

The reality, though, is that this business building method of chasing friends, family, co-workers, and anything else that breathes is not working at all and the proof is that 95% of all Network Marketers fail in the field.

Here is a funny story that you may be able to relate to and possibly it will help you realize how we Network Marketers make people feel by chasing them and how this actually is not doing us good but more than anything else is hurting us and our business.

Ok. So one day I was cold calling and a guy picks up the phone. He actually sounded pretty dissent. So, I started prospecting and trying to connect with him. I was using Dani Johnson’s script at that time.

I didn’t know it but there was a reason why this man was so inviting and had decided to let me prospect him. At the moment he had found out that I am just like him, a Network Marketer, cold calling, he had come up with a plan. I bet ya anything that this wasn’t a plan he had created just now for the first time.

About 3-4 minutes in the conversation, the situation in which I was trying to find about him and why he was looking for a home-based business, had rapidly turned around and instead of me prospecting and asking the question he took the word and started to pitch his deal to me, suggesting that I join his company and he does the same in return.

I told him that I am happy with my network marketing company and I am not looking for other business opportunities at this time, I was focused on what I was doing and I didn’t want to join another network marketing business opportunity.

Well, he didn’t want to let me go. I was young blood gal who was obviously willing to learn and was taking the actions in order to achieve success (I was investing in myself, buying leads, learning scripts, taking the time to cold call). I was the perfect downline, I mean he didn’t even have to teach me about what cold calling is. Isn’t that what we all want – a downline who knows what it takes to create success for themselves in this business and who is willing to be that person. A real entrepreneurial spirit!

After 30 minutes of persuasions I finally had to let him go. I was still learning, in fact I am still learning, so I realize that wasn’t a good example of respecting my time. Anyway, this is not the end of the story. It got worse to the point that I literally felt like I was being stocked.

You may not believe this but it is pure truth. He called me back in the next 24 hours more that 7 times.

I know this may not sound a lot to you, but excuse me this is a full day, well all together was two days, and this is a stranger who is being told not to call me anymore because I am not joining his opportunity, who is calling 7 more times afterwards? Ridiculous!

He finally left me alone after I had asked my upline for help.

The point though is that almost all of us act like stockers being aware of it or not. In most cases we are really not very conscious of what we are doing to ourselves, our business and to others.

At the end this wasn’t my stocker’s lucky day of recruitments. It was a bad experience for me as I am sure it was for him. That’s the case almost always when “old school” techniques are in use.

Even though it was an unpleasant experience, it helped me a lot in understanding what I didn’t want to be like, and what feelings I didn’t wanted to ingrain in the people I was prospecting.

When I learned about the “New” way of Marketing I was very attracted to the idea, because it was the complete opposite of what I have been doing to build my business so far.

With the “New” Attraction-based business model I didn’t have to chase anyone, in fact people are coming to me curious to know what I am involved with, because they want to do so, without force.

In the “New” model not everyone is your prospect. It may sound weird but it is what it is. Not everyone wants what you have or what you want. This is true even if it is hard for you to want to believe it.

People want different things, not everyone wants to be filthy rich. Some people enjoy living what you may consider to be poor; it makes their live more interesting. Other wants to have just enough for a house and to live comfortably. Not everybody wants to have their own business, to be self-employed and to take responsibility.

Some people love their job, and even though you may be thinking “What? How could anyone like to be working for someone else, and be paid 10 times less than what they are worth?” Well, there are people who just don’t want any change, feel great and secure where they are, no matter what you think.

So, the biggest secret of the “New” Network Marketing Business Model is - don’t chase everyone. In fact don’t chase anyone.

What you need to do is:

#1 Identify what type of people would be interested in what you have to offer and then let them find it themselves. You see people like to shop, but they don’t like to be sold, not at all.

So number ONE - Identify your Target Market!

So, let’s just briefly talk about different target markets. I have three markets in mind that could best fit the criteria of people we want to join our Network Marketing Opportunity.

    A. The first one is product customers. People who we know are looking for the products that we offer. For example, if you are in a nutritional company, your target market would be people who are interested in health, nutrition, people who exercise regularly, who are eating healthy, or people who want to become all of the above.

    B. The next target market is people who are looking to start their own business, people who want to work at home, looking for a part time job, etc.

    C. The third target market is other people who do what we do or are looking for the same solutions that we are. In other words; our third target market is other Network Marketers.

So how do we actually make those people come to us?

That’s a great question,  as we are taught to say for more professionalism when we are business recruiting.

Before I answer this question, here is a rule for you to remember and start applying.

Don’t ever pitch your deal. Don’t ever again try to sell someone on your opportunity or product unless they ask about it.

You might be thinking that this is insane and that nothing ever will happen with your business, but this is not true.

You see on the Internet there is a “3 foot rule” as well. You are practically 3 feet away from the entire world and everyone who might be a fit for you.

Everyday people who are a part of each of these three target groups are researching and trying to find information about your product, your business opportunity, or how to build their current business more effectively.

So ask yourself what really is these people’s problem, what questions do they have. Then position your product, your business opportunity or yourself as being the solution to their problem or the answer to their question.

If you provide them with the information that they are looking for and they are happy with the answers and solutions they receive, if you provide enough value to them on the front end than it is only natural for them to want to get a hold of that solution.

So what we call the “New” Attraction-based Network Marketeris Solutions Provider.

I am not going to go in details of how you provide these solutions, in this article, but will leave you with one final thought.

Network Marketers are very nomadic tribe. One Network Marketer on average changes his company 20 times in a lifetime. So, if you are a Network Marketer your best target market is other Network Marketers, there is no doubt when I am saying this.

The solution that I have found to provide to other Network Marketer entreprenours is an educational tool, an ebook that teaches the “New” Attraction-based business model. I have chosen it because it is the best book of network marketing out there that is explaining the “New” business marketing model in its entirety. So by choosing it I know that I am providing the best value I could for my Target Market.

I know you have a ton of questions and the picture is still very foggy to you but that’s because there is a lot more to this whole thing.

If you really want to stop struggling in your business and start enjoying and building a successful business you’ve got to get out of the 1980’s and start using 21’s century’s techniques.

The Renegade Network Marketer book is going to be the fastest track that you can take, to really grasping what this “New age” business model is about. You will also see for yourself if that could be a good solution to provide for one of your target markets.

Pick it up and read it if after that you still want to do things the “old school” way take advantage of the 90 day money back guarantee.
