you have to be scared of failure. it is the fear of failure that motivates. I saw a lot of poverty in my younger days. But the fear of being poor, till today, makes me work harder every day.

i give three reasons why one should fear failure;
Firstly. fear makes you pragmatic.
Secondly. it takes you away from fatalism.forcing you to take charge of your life
thirdly. it will tell you who your real friends are.
