Do you know what you really want?
Monday, October 29, 2007 at 09:15PM Most people don’t succeed and get what they want in life because they really don’t know what they really want. They may have some vague idea of what they want but they can’t articulate it clearly and describe what true success means for them.
When asked the question “what do you want?” 90 % of people answer with all the things they don’t want it life.
Well I don’t want to be broke.
I don’t want to have credit card debt.
I don’t want to be fat.
I don’t want to have fights with my husband anymore.
However, that’s a great answer to the question “What don’t you want?” but there is a big difference between knowing what you want and knowing what you don’t want. The distinction would be the key to your success.
If you are focusing and thinking about all the things that you don’t want in life that’s what will show up in your life. What we think about, we bring about. So, it is very important to know what thoughts you put in your mind and what you concentrate on.
Are you really thinking about what you really want, or are you thinking about everything that you don’t like about your situation and everything that you want to change?
It is very important to know the difference and focus on the right things in order to start seeing different results showing up in your life.
There are some people who answer the question “What do you want?” with what they think, they can get. But by doing this they are setting up a limit and a lower standard for themselves.
The secret to feeling good and happy is to identify what you are really passionate about, what you want in life, what type of relationships you want, what car you want to drive, what jobs you want to take on and then focus your thoughts on that and nothing else that is the opposite of it or anything that in your mind could be a reason of why you may not be able to achieve that.
So in conclusion here is a little homework for you. Write down a list of all the things that you want to happen in your life. Then, everyday start thinking about all of these things and try to become more aware of what goes through your mind on a daily basis, because that might be the only obstacle that stays between you and your dreams.

This is a very good post. Sometimes the simplest things are the ones that keep people from achieving what they want in business.
If more people took the time to do the "homework" explained above, they may have a better chance at succeeding in whatever business they choose to start.
Thanks for the comment Chris,
You are very right, about having a better chance to succeed in any business following the homework outline.
Making a list of all the things that you want in life is relevant to creating and following a business plan for your business.
Having a defined business plan gives you clarity.
It's so much easier to follow a map and go from A to B if you have a clear vision on where is it that you want to go and just follow the route.
