Paul Colligan's Advice On MicroBlogging and Blogging Is Also A Good One for Your Internet Network Marketiing Business

Twitter News: Tweeter Getter Gaining Popularity

I just listened to a webinar with Paul Colligan – very respected social media expert - about “What Your Mom (And Consultant) Won’t Tell You About Blogging” and thought I would outline what I learned from it.

First let’s start with Micro Blogging.

If you are micro blogging you are most likely using Twitter.

If you don’t know about micro blogging and Twitter read my post on in at Twitter for Your Internet Network Marketing business.

Twitter is effective communication tool and if used correctly you can benefit from it. Now when I am talking about Twitter I am referring to is as an effective Business Communication Tool that allows you to blast out 140 character messages at a time.

If you are using it to tell us about every little detail of your day like “Just got a glass of water” “tied my shoes and going out” and that sort of thing then you just better stop using it.

Are you trying to build a business on the Internet and yes this could also be your network marketing business? Or are you just trying to stay not bored?

Use Twitter as a part of your Business Strategy and communicate your message effectively – while it’s ok to share your personal daily activities do in such a way that they fit into an overall professional message.

You need to think about your overall message and how people perceive you. You can draw your lifestyle to your followers, but make it desirable.

(A Business Strategy? (surprised) Oh, you don’t have one? Well, you better get to work then, right now.)

So again, tie Twitter into Your Business Strategy!

For example, a more relevant to your business plan message that you can blast on Twitter would be “Enjoying the breeze on my deck and creating a business plan for my next big website project - www.yourwebsitedomain.com” etc.

You must have a strategy otherwise Microblogging will turn into a waste of time.

    Next, let’s move into Blogging!

    Is blogging effective?

    Absolutely!

Blogging can be viewed as “CSM” or what that stands for is “Content Management System”.

In today’s Internet world we may say that Blogging is the easiest “Content Management System”and the easiest “Content Distribution System”.

    And Content Sells.

Without content on the Internet Marketing – Social Marketing World you are worth nothing. Content is like owning your real estate, but on the Internet where you can make money, generate network marketing and business leads, make money from affiliate commissions, e-commerce stores and much more.

But there are some Pitfalls when you start Blogging for your Internet Network Marketing Business!

Some people spend way too much time on the wrong things.

Instead of pumping out content some people try to make their blogs beautiful, organized and clean….for hours and hours and hours every month or even every week or every day.

So be aware of the pitfalls.

Results come when the message is good and out there and not when your blog is beautiful.

An ugly blog with an insightful message will beat out a beautiful blog with a poor message.

Blog Maintenance vs. Content Management – You choose!

    In other words….

Time Wasting vs. Productivity – You Choose!

When you look at your Blog you must see it as a big part of your business strategy.

Your blog is your Content Distribution Engine for your content and business message.

You have to understand what your business message is and what you are trying to accomplish with your blog and leverage this easy management and distribution system to get your message out.

But if you don’t understand what your message is you will not accomplish much.

So, what you should do next is – know what your message is by knowing who you are talking to – create a business strategy where you tie Blogging and Micro Blogging into the equation.

Start answering this question - Does what you are doing and blogging about relevant to your target market?

Very good points! I see so many people twittering away time. And, time is money. Make it support your business. Well done.

Good info to think about. Time is money, everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day. It's how you use it that makes the difference in your success. I'm guilty of wanting the "pretty blog". Now I realize that it doesn't matter if the content is valuable.

Good tips! Strategy and content to make it all worthwhile. I need to be re-directed every now and then. I get caught up in the details and lose a lot of time.
    Thanks Didi!

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

@ Becky - I think it's natural for everyone to get caught up sometimes in the details. Ask me :) some people I work with call me Diditails :) But I feel that as long as one is conscious and reminds himself/herself about what's happening it is safer for their business results. I also feel putting more effort in planning my days makes it easier to spend more time on the important things and less time on the details that don't matter.

We all just have to keep reminding ourselves - value is more valuable than looks :).

    Hi Didi
I'm a newbie and am subscribed to Renegade Professional. I have taken a stab at a couple Squidoo lenses and still working on a blog at Squarespace. In short, I am overwhelmed by all the information and strategies. In looking at your site here at Network Marketing Smart, you present yourself as an authority and seem to have left nothing out. Should a newbie such as myself pattern my online activities after yours with detailed HOW TO, WHERE TO GO blogs? If it works for you then I guess the answer is yes.
