What is Social Bookmarking and how can it help your Internet Network Marketing campaign efforts? 

Social Bookmarking – is a very important part of your Social Marketing strategy when you are building your network marketing and/or any other business on the Internet. In fact it’s probably one of the most important final steps that you could take to beat up the competition  when it comes to your search engine rankings, your exposure and people finding your sites.

Let’s first find out what is Social Bookmarking?

Initially Social Bookmarking sites were created for the purpose of you being able to save your favorite sites online, so if your computer were to crash you wouldn’t lose these and can always access them from any computer in the World that has Internet connection.

The other purpose of Social Bookmarking sites is to share your favourite bookmarks with other people and to see what other people are bookmarking, which in a way creates a social environment and that’s why it’s called Social Bookmarking sites and not only Bookmarking.

How search engines use Social Bookmarking to rank websites, through the process of Link Voting?

Because of the social environment in the Social Bookmarking sites and because you can share your bookmarks with others, people can also vote for the sites that are favored or shared there. If a site is really good then it could get a lot of bookmark votes or what at Digg.com is called Diggs, or at StumbleUpon.com is called Stumbles or Thumbs Up etc.

When you are at one of these Social Bookmarking sites and you see an article that has been bookmarked by just a few people and another that has been bookmarked hundreds of times then it’s obvious which article the community has liked more. It’s clear which article or website Link was Voted more favourably! It’s people rating the quality of the content. So you trust it more and you can even vote for it as well.

That’s how search engines also look at content and take the crowd’s opinion into consideration when determining the quality of certain content and so rank it accordingly in the search engines. If more people picked up one article over another, this article would most likely rank higher on the search engines as well.

Ways Your Internet Network Marketing Can Benefit from Social Bookmarking

If you are able to get on the first page of these bookmarking sites than you could get a lot of traffic, because there are people who constantly come to look for hot topics. However, this is not an easy thing to achieve, but if you could do it go for it.

Getting on the first page of these sites could be really cool, but another and better advantage is that you can use Social Bookmarking sites to submit your sites, article pages, Squidoo lenses, Hub pages and any content that you have to the search engines. It’s basically a way to tell the search engine for your website’s existence. 

If you are submitting directly to the search engines this could hurt you more than it could help you. A better way to do it is by posting a link of your site to another site so the search engines find you this way and then crawl your site. So  social bookmarking sites could be the sites you post your link at. And the advantage is that most of the social bookmarking sites have pretty high ranking. So that’s a vote for your site from a high ranking site, which is a lot better than if you had a vote from a site that has low or no ranking.

When I first learned about ranking I had contacted my SquareSpace support blog and asked them — “what’s that on my blog that says - ?/10”. My blog was then brand new. So from them I learned that the search engines give you a score, they rank you and you could rank anywhere between 0 to 10 ranking. Very few sites in the world get a ranking of 7 or 8, so getting to 2, 3,4 you are doing extremely good. Well even beginning with 1 is great progress.

Warning as a side note: It’s important that you submit only your best stuff in the Social Bookmarking places otherwise you may risk to get buried forever. Why? Well, we just spoke about Link Voting by the crowds, and as the crowds (the community) can give you thumbs up, they can also give you thumbs down. :) So be careful! Don’t submit things that you wouldn’t give thumbs up to.

One thing that helps you determine whether your content is good or not is asking yourself the question - Is my article valuable? Could anyone benefit from the information on it?

So How Can All This Help Your Internet Network Marketing

If you are building your network marketing business on the Internet through Social Marketing techniques, it’s all about exposure and people finding you in the social media sites and through the search engines so they can get to your message and what you have to say to them.

Social bookmarking are Social Media Marketing sites and by submitting your links there people in their communities find you and visit your site, and that’s traffic and exposure for you. Also, the search engines see your link from the particular bookmarking sites and start ranking you and with time and correct optimization you can rank higher and higher for the keywords your target market is typing, so they find YOU and not your competition.

The more links the search engines see at other places like these Social Bookmarking sites poining to your Sites and links the better ranking you will get.

But hold on – there are even more pluses to Social Bookmarking – some of the social bookmarking sites get ranking on their own. What I mean by that is when you bookmark your site, the social bookmarking sites create a page on their site with your bookmark on there. Well, sometimes this pages starts ranking on their own and it’s one more way people get to your site from the search engines. They first come across the bookmarking site with your bookmark and then click away to visit your site.

It’s a beautiful way to create multiple listings of your site on the search engines not only with your site but with sites that talk about your site.

We can, however, categorize Twitter either as a Social Networking Sites or Content Sharing Site and even Bookmarking site in a way.

Social Networking Site

It is a Social Networking Site because it allows you to network and communicate with other people. You can easily create a conversation like you do on Myspace and Facebook. When you follow what people “tweet” (write on Twitter) about is very easy to reply and create a conversation.

How to use Twitter for your Internet Network Marketing or other business

You can stay in touch with current friends by inviting them to “follow” you as you are Twittering or you can “follow” them and find other people of your interest to ”follow” using the Twitter search bar.

It’s a way for you to stay in touch with some of your busy friends or get to know better some of the people that you are networking currently with in the social marketing world. This is a great way for strengthening the relationship between your business networking connections. It’s also another medium for providing more value and increasing the chances for future business opportunities. Overall Twitter is good for your Internet Network Marketing Business.

Content Sharing Site

I would categorize Twitter also as a Content Sharing Site because it’s also called “Micro Blogging”.

On Twitter you can write updates about new things that you learn on a daily basis, you can talk about things that you are doing at the moment or recommend resources that you are using for your business, marketing and internet network marketing. It’s like blogging but in a mini format because you can only write 140 characters at a time.

Twittering and the benefit to your network marketing business?

When you stay in front of the eyes of your network marketing prospects and people who have similar interests to yours, your name starts to get recognized. When you provide powerful and valuable information you become recognized as an expert in the field. What does this mean for your network marketing business? I will let you answer this question. Bookmarking Site

I found that Twitter was listed at SocialMarker.com and then I realized that it is also a Social Bookmarking site.

Many users who are also called “Twitters” would often refer to a website in their “tweets” they just came across that they found valuable.

You can also, post a link to your brand new social marketing content that you just posted, whether that be on your blog, your website or an article you wrote on Squidoo, HubPages, EzineArticles etc.

That is almost like bookmarking, because you can later come back and refer to the history of your “tweets”. Bookmarking was initially created for the purpose of saving your Favourite sites on the web so in an event your computer crashes you don’t lose that info.

But the main purpose of why many internet and internet network marketerketing entrepreneurs are bookmarking is to promote their content to the bookmarking communities and to get backlinks to their sites. So if the bookmarking location has do-follow this increases your search engine ranking.

Even though Twitter is a no-follow site the benefit of posting your links is the exposure you get to your content. It’s an easy way to drive traffic from the people that “follow” you and creating social environment on your sites because more people will comment on your material.

Twitter and Facebook

I love the ability to be able to merge Twitter and Facebook so every time I write something on Twitter this also updates my Facebook status update so my Facebook friends can see what I am doing right now.

You can do it from the “settings” tab inside your Twitter account once you create it. You can also find the application at http://facebook.com/apps

Broadcast Medium

Yesterday I listened to a very informative live streaming video with Michael Campbell at “Internet Marketing Secrets” who gave his own perspective about Twitter.

He explained that Twitter is just a “broadcast medium to get the word out very easy and quickly”. The one of two ways he uses it is to follow some of the “Alpha Bloggers” out there whose content would often come on the front page of main Social Bookmarking sites like Digg. If a an article get’s Digged 30 or more times in an hour is very possible it would get viral and yes, end up on the first page of Digg.

So when these “Alpha Bloggers” announce the link to their newest post on Twitter he would be one of the first people to leave a comment. So his content may not come on the first page on Digg but his comment does and a giant number of eye balls are now staring at it and getting to recognize his name and say “Ah, here is this guy again.”

It’s also a good way for branding your name and leading people to your content when you have won the rights to leave your link after a good solid valuable comment. “So those people can now go to your landing page, turn into customers or anything you choose. This is traffic and you choose what to do with it.” You can get traffic of thousands of people that way going to your website all year long.

If you use Twitter this way, I recommend to find the “Alpha Bloggers” in your niche.

Twitter is a broadcast medium also because as Michael Campbell explained, it takes years some times for someone to build an e-mail list of 15000-20000 people. But a lot easier to get 15000 people to follow you on Twitter and if you want to get the word out about something to a lot of people than that is an easy way to do it.

For example, you can use Twitter for live events announcements or product launches announcements.

Initially Tim had called me because he found one of my Network Marketing YouTube videos online and he was very interested to see if he can build his network marketing business like I do – using the Internet and attracting prospects to his business.

But will Building on a Budget deliver?

Dillard promises that you’ll be able to create up 30-50 prospects per day after reviewing Building on a Budget.  I have yet to see a book that most people can pick up and implement so effectively; however, I’d love to see it!

If this is like Dillard’s previous stuff it will be good.  But I’ve found that books aren’t enough for most.  Still, at the very least, I suspect Building on a Budget will get a few people flying, and the majority will be inspired to look a little harder for more help.

And that’s when they’ll find our step-by-step video tutorials that show them how to do what Building on a Budget writes about and shares in text on paper.  I’ve ordered Building on a Budget and will share my thoughts on it after I receive it.

Mike Klingler has also created a Building in a Budget lense at Squidoo that he’ll keep updated with his review going forward.

 “The Renegade Network Marketer” by Ann Sieg teaches a new way of building a network marketing business. Ann Sieg explains that 95% of Network Marketers who apply “old school” techniques in their business never get into a positive cash flow in their network marketing career.

She goes into explaining that pitching and selling to everyone is not a very successful model or a pleasant one. Then she talks about a way for network marketers that does not involve any pitching any selling and any chasing. What she talks about is a very empowering model that actually allows your prospects to find YOU and at the same time makes you money even when you don’t sign them up in you network marketing opportunity.

I am not going to now describe everything that Ann Sieg talks about in her book “The Renegade Network Marketer” in this post, and she definitely does a great job, so you might as well want to pick it up, because it will change the way you look at your business completely.

I want to talk to you about some of the things that you can start doing to actually achieve the results that I mentioned above. Basically, I am going to get you started in the process of attracting prospects to you and making money along the way.

But, before that stop reading if you are expecting some magic pill or a button you can click on that totally transforms your business in seconds without an effort.

If this is what you are expecting then you should you should just give up on your dreams and the idea of having a home-based business, because this juts isn’t reality.

I am going to just tell you of a way that got me started and has so far together with other marketing strategies that I am applying broouhgt me over $5000 and has attracted over 400 prospects who keep sending me e-mails and calling me every week.

Yee -ha, Social Network Marketing, baby!

You will be using what’s called Social Marketing strategies. Here I want to explain that in the old model you had to or at least I had to invest a lot of money on buying leads, flying to events to learn how to call and prospect those leads, and investing a lot of time into calling the leads…etc.

Well, in the new model I don’t need to invest any money if I don’t want to and here’s something cool, I make more money that I used to. But in the new model I invest a lot of time in other things that are essential for my business success.

I invest a lot of time into making new friends, building relationships and providing value to those relationships which builds my reputation as someone trustworthy, and someone they can turn to later or whenever. This is a process that I enjoy a lot; it’s a lot of fun. And I want to help you understand this process and I want you to not go out do anything before you really understand what I am talking about.

Not Everyone Is Your Prospect

First, I am very careful who I make friends with. I only spend my time with those who are like minded. People who are interested in the same things I am and have something to learn and something to teach to them.

Remember you were told that you should pursue everyone and that everyone is your prospect. However, this is not true and this model of chasing everyone and the three foot rule has proven to be very unsuccessful. Not everyone is like you, wanting the same things that you do. Not everyone wants to be in business for themselves and take responsibility, not everyone wants to be filthy rich etc.

So make sure you are hanging out in the right crowd.

MySpace and Facebook

How do I do this?

There is a ton of places called Social Networking Sites on the Internet where you can create a profile, add pictures, videos of yourself, write your bio, your message and make friends and join networks with like minded individuals, and a lot more.

I am only going to mention the two most massive ones where I have already made over 600 new friends.

I am talking about MySpace.com and FaceBook.com. If you haven’t yet made an account with these two Social Networking Sites you absolutely should.

When you do consider adding me as your friend and send me a message or a comment. When you send me a comment it will be seen by all of my friends when they come to my profile, which gives you exposure.

Warning!

I don’t want to say too much in this post about how to brand you in these social networking sites. I will be doing this in future posts. I just want to get you started in the process and then make something very clear.

You might be reading this post and you might not have even read The Renegade Network Marketer. You might be just coming from the old school Network Marketing world. You may be already seeing the wonderful opportunity in front of you and get very excited, that I just shared with you a way of which you can be exposed to hundreds and thousands of people.

But be careful, take the excitement down and realize that You might hurt yourself in such a way that may be very hard to repair if you are brining your old network marketing habits to the world of Social Marketing and the New Attraction network marketing.

Please, wait for my next posts and don’t go out there and start pitching your deal, or offer your services or anything like this. Just create your account and look around to see what other people like me have done.

Give First and Then Receive

The Internet is very empowering tool for your Network Marketing business, but there is already established online social marketing mindset. The online communities in which you are about to enter look very badly to people who are selfish and have a hidden agenda, or people who don’t have a sense of what a community means. You have to be always putting the community first before yourself. That’s how people trust you that you are someone who cares.

You should remember this – Give and then receive. So, don’t go out there with the mindset I want to sign up people in my network marketing opportunity, I want to make money and I don’t care what people think as long as I am able to sell to a few. First lay a foundation and then build upon that. This may take a few days, weeks or even months but believe me its worth.

So create an account with Facebook.com and Myspace.com and then I am going to talk to you about how to make friends who have similar interests to you and what to do from there.

You already, probably saw one of my attraction marketing videos that I recently recorded. I am very delighted to share my results with you.

Video Sharing sites are a part of what’s called Social Media sites, however they are not alone.

 Some of the components that Social Media includes are:

The most powerful way to dominate the Internet right now is through Social Marketing.

However, Social Marketing can be tricky and not so easy to navigate yourself through. Here I am especially referring to network marketers who are just entering the new age of the industry. The new age of the industry is what we call attraction network marketing and you probably know more if you have read The Renegade Network Marketer by Ann Sieg.

But for someone who is still brining their old habits of pitching and bragging about their business opportunity (and note that you may not be even aware of that you are doing so) this could be quite dangerous. 

Social Marketing could also be challenging because my experience is that network marketers could use a little help with technology. 

So how do you learn Social Marketing and use it to build your Network Marketing fortune? How does your team learn it? How do you teach to your network marketing team it without being on the phone all day long with Sally and Jim?

How is this related to your Network Marketing business?

His post made me realize that I have been doing this with my Network Marketing business over the past few months since I started building on the Internet but I never told anyone about it.

When I started this blog I promised that I will be sharing everything that I learn and do to build my business to help you with your own network marketing business. 

Before I share this resource let me talk a little bit more about what my blogger friend had said.

Even thought you may not have a blog his advice absolutely works for you if you are a network marketer. You don’t want to just go around and say “Hey, look at my opportunity” or “Hey, join my business” or “This is a ground floor once in a life time opportunity”. You want to make people like you and naturally want to be connected to you without hyper persuasion.

One of the best that I have been using is Magnetic Sponsoring community. It is a social networking place where you can create a profile, upload your pictures, promote your articles and materials, or make friends and socialize in the forum and a lot more.

This place has literally brought me a ton of prospects that keep approaching me continuously. Not only that but now like no other time in my network marketing career I have personal relationships with a lot of successful people in the industry who I continue to learn from and surprisingly there is lot that they are learning from me as well.
